The inaugural expedition, titled "Origin", was undertaken in a Carrara marble quarry. This voyage transported us to a time when elemental forces like fire, the sun, and the sky were revered. Light, in this context, becomes synonymous with warmth, reminiscent of the primal flame that dispelled the darkest of nights and combated intense cold - a benevolent force that united and safeguarded communities. The ancient marble veins, dating back millions of years, cleave through the mountain's core, transporting us to an era where humankind's foundations were laid.
Mandalaki Studio used the "Halo Edition" collection to infuse warmth and illumination into these cold, shadowed recesses, evoking the deeply ingrained sensations passed down from our forebears. The once forbidding caves transformed into realms of wonder and comfort.
Collaborating with photographer Marco Menghi, these visuals represent the commencement of a detailed exploration into light's interaction with nature's extremities and the origins of life. The precision-milled optical instruments carved from solid aluminum facilitate the crafting of metaphysical landscapes, inviting a dissolution of temporal and spatial awareness.
